FAQ

What Makes Inner Signal Special?

Inner Signal is a self-hypnosis and inner-child reparenting trainer for adults.

Inner Signal is not a generic AI therapy chatbot, not a traditional hypnosis audio library, and not an IFS app. See this post to understand how Inner Signal compares to other approaches and apps.

It is built around a specific method: inner-child reparenting plus self-hypnosis as spiritual inner communion rather than command-style programming. The goal is not to dominate the subconscious, force a breakthrough, or endlessly map parts. The goal is to listen inward, respect protectors, reparent the wounded child, and return with one phrase, one body signal, and one small action.

The healed inner child does not disappear. The inner adult learns to nurture, protect, and guide the child — and the child gives back the qualities adults often lose: aliveness, creativity, humor, tenderness, intuitive trust, play, love, and the divine spark.

Is this command hypnosis?

No. Inner Signal uses self-hypnosis as inner communion, not command-style subconscious programming.

Traditional hypnosis often focuses on delivering suggestions: relax, deepen, install a new belief, change the behavior. Inner Signal is different. The trance container is used to listen inward, invite a body signal, respect protectors, meet the inner child, and return with one phrase, one body signal, and one small action.

The method is less “subconscious, obey me” and more “deeper self, child, body, protectors — I am listening.”

Does the inner child disappear after healing?

No. In this model, the healed inner child remains essential.

The goal is not to adultify the child or dissolve the child into a generic adult self. The goal is for the inner adult to become trustworthy enough to nurture, protect, and guide the child. Then the child can give back what adults often lose: playfulness, tenderness, love, originality, silliness, intuitive trust, and connection to the Great Mystery.

Is this therapy?

No.

Inner Signal is not therapy, medical care, diagnosis, crisis support, or a substitute for a qualified clinician.

It is an educational self-practice tool.

It can help you practice self-hypnosis, inner listening, and gentle reparenting-style dialogue, but it should not be used as your only support if you are in crisis, unstable, unsafe, or dealing with something that needs professional care.

Is this hypnotherapy?

No.

Inner Signal teaches self-hypnosis practice. It is not a licensed hypnotherapist and does not provide clinical hypnotherapy.

The app can guide you through a hypnotic-style structure, but you remain responsible for your own safety, judgment, and stopping point.

If you need clinical support, work with a qualified professional.

What does “inner child” mean here?

“Inner child” can be understood psychologically, symbolically, or spiritually; the practice does not require reducing it to only one explanation.

It means earlier emotional patterns that may still be active in adult life.

For example:

  • the part that expects criticism
  • the part that shuts down
  • the part that tries very hard to be good
  • the part that feels abandoned quickly
  • the part that gets angry before it feels hurt
  • the part that says “this is fake” before anything can touch it

Inner-child reparenting means learning to meet those patterns with steadiness, curiosity, and less cruelty.

It is not about forcing warmth or pretending the past is fixed. My full guide on Inner Child Reparenting will explain more in-depth.

What is the difference between the two modes?

Guided self-hypnosis uses a calm inward structure. It may include induction, sensory narrowing, body signals, and a clear exit.

Inner-child no-trance mode stays conversational. No induction. No deepening. No trance frame.

Use guided self-hypnosis when you want a quiet focused session.

Use no-trance inner-child mode when you want ordinary, grounded dialogue.

You can switch modes depending on what fits today.

What if hypnosis feels fake?

Extracted from the post on this topic:

That is normal.

“This feels fake” is often the first honest thing that shows up.

Inner Signal does not treat that as failure. It treats it as information.

A skeptical part may be protecting you from disappointment, embarrassment, false hope, or opening too quickly.

The app should not argue with that part or push past it.

It should ask what the doubt might be protecting.

What if nothing happens?

Nothing has failed.

Blankness, numbness, boredom, skepticism, and “I don’t know” all count as data.

Sometimes the safest thing the system can offer is nothing obvious.

Inner Signal is built to work with that gently instead of forcing an experience.

What is an inner signal?

An inner signal is an invited body-mind response.

It might be:

  • tingling
  • warmth
  • heaviness
  • breath change
  • pulse change
  • a phrase
  • a small movement
  • an emotional shift
  • a “yes” or “no” sense
  • an image
  • blankness

The important part is that you do not force it.

You invite, wait, and notice honestly.

Why does the app ask for one phrase, one body signal, and one small action?

Because inner work needs to land.

A session that feels deep but does not return to life can become vague or destabilizing.

The phrase gives you language.

The body signal helps you remember how the experience felt.

The small action connects the session to ordinary life.

The action should be small enough to actually do.

Why doesn’t the app always let me go deeper?

Because more is not always better.

If a session feels good, it can be tempting to chase the feeling.

Inner Signal may guide you toward integration instead of another deep round.

That is intentional.

The goal is not to keep you in a state. The goal is to help you carry something useful back into life.

Is this safe?

Extracted from the Safety page:

No app can honestly promise to be safe for everyone.

Inner Signal is designed to be safer in specific ways:

  • bounded method
  • source-visible logic
  • clear disclaimers
  • crisis redirection
  • no false-memory confirmation
  • no pressure for breakthroughs
  • no encouragement to chase trance states
  • no adult-style processing for minors
  • grounding when things get too intense
  • edge-case testing before version updates

But it still has limits.

Do not use it as your only support in crisis, severe distress, mania, psychosis, severe dissociation, withdrawal risk, active danger, or medical symptoms.

How is this different from general AI therapy?

General AI therapy chats can become too open-ended.

They may try to answer anything, improvise advice, become emotionally sticky, or drift outside their competence.

Inner Signal is more bounded.

It is designed around specific guides and specific modes:

  • guided self-hypnosis
  • no-trance inner-child reparenting
  • protector/parts handling
  • integration
  • safety limits

When something is outside scope, it should not pretend to know.

It should narrow, ground, or point toward real help.

How is this different from working with a human therapist?

A good human therapist can offer things an app cannot: clinical judgment, real-time attunement, accountability, professional training, and the ability to hold complex histories over time.

Inner Signal does not replace that.

But it has a different risk profile.

An app cannot touch you, sexually exploit you, invite you into boundary confusion, or use personal charisma in the same way a human can. It also should not manipulate you into needing it forever.

The goal is skill transfer: you learn the method and become more capable yourself.

That does not make the app “better than therapy.”

It means the risks are different.

Use the right tool for the situation.

What does source-visible mean?

It means the preview app source can be inspected.

Users, practitioners, developers, and skeptics can look at how the app is structured.

This helps make the method less of a black box.

Source visibility does not guarantee safety, but it does make the logic more accountable.

Is Inner Signal open source?

The preview app source is source-visible and released under the PolyForm Noncommercial License unless otherwise stated.

That means noncommercial use is allowed under the license terms, but commercial use requires permission.

The Inner Signal name, logo, visual identity, and brand remain protected.

Why pay if the preview source is visible?

Because the value is not secrecy.

Paid access supports the maintained version:

  • new sessions
  • safety revisions
  • edge-case testing
  • mobile polish
  • documentation
  • improved prompts
  • feedback tools
  • survey and outcomes tracking
  • future versions

You are not paying because the method is hidden.

You are paying to support the official version that is maintained, tested, and improved.

Is the free preview enough?

The free preview gives you the demo, showing the shape of the method.

It is enough to see whether the approach fits you.

The full trainer gives real interaction, more depth, more options, more support, and more refined flows.

Can I use this for trauma?

Yes, but use caution.

Inner Signal is not trauma therapy.

Do not use the app to force trauma memories, recover memories, relive traumatic scenes, or push past a part of you that clearly says no.

If trauma material destabilizes you, work with a qualified clinician or appropriate support.

The safer use of Inner Signal is smaller: grounding, noticing, listening, integrating, and choosing one next action.

Can this recover memories?

No.

Inner Signal should never confirm a recovered memory.

A body sensation is not proof of a past event.

A vivid image is not evidence by itself.

A feeling can be meaningful without being treated as factual history.

If memory material appears, slow down and do not force certainty.

Can I use this if I’m in crisis?

No.

If you may harm yourself or someone else, feel unsafe, are in immediate danger, or cannot stay grounded, do not use Inner Signal as your main support.

Contact emergency services, a crisis line, or a trusted person near you.

Inner Signal is not crisis care.

Is my conversation private?

The preview app may save history locally in your browser so you can download or delete it.

Privacy mode only controls whether the app stores conversation history locally in that browser.

It does not create medical confidentiality, therapist-client privilege, or legal privacy.

If you are using an AI platform, browser, host, or third-party service, their data rules may still apply.

Do not share anything you would not want handled under those limits.

Can I download or delete my history?

The app includes local download and delete tools.

If you are using the full trainer through another platform, the available privacy and history tools may depend on that platform.

Is this for minors?

No.

Inner Signal is for adults.

If you are a minor, use youth-appropriate support and trusted adults rather than adult-style self-hypnosis or inner-processing tools.

Can practitioners or developers inspect or collaborate?

Yes.

Feedback is welcome, especially around safety, edge cases, translations, accessibility, and better session design.

Where should I start?
